Our Mission

We are three sisters who want to share how we "live within our means" but live well! We will show you how (with a little elbow grease) you can make any found object into a treasure, cook an inexpensive meal, or bring you inspiration to enrich your life. We grew up in a large family (8 kids) with a mother who was very crafty and creative! Though our lives (aka husbands) have taken us to live in separate states, we still enjoy sharing what we are up to with each other. Now we want to share with you! We hope you enjoy our blog and we also hope it will bring you inspiration and happiness!

Sock Animals!!

My newest obsession is making sock animals. I saw a few cuties on Pinterest, and decided I needed to get in on the action. Went to the dollar store, and found a ton of adorable socks. Some were even three pairs for a dollar! Yeah, they are below average quality, but no way am I going to take scissors to a $20 pair of socks. I cringed just making the first cut on my cheap socks. My oldest daughter, Hailey has decided that her favorite animals are hippos and ostriches. Because I doubt any pattern could make an ostrich look cute, I decided to look for a hippo tutorial. This is the one I chose:

Sock Hippo Tutorial

Okay, yes it is Russian! And it doesn't translate perfectly to English through Google translator, but the pictures are pretty clear. After a while I noticed that my screen saver had come on, and that I was pretty much doing my own thing anyways. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to Mr. Hip-hop-opotamus:

Far from perfect, but I think he is pretty darn cute. You can see how thin the socks are in the picture.

Here is my sock rhino:

And here they are together. Hip-hop-opotamus and Rhyme-noceros. A little nod to Flight of the Conchords.

The newest member of our sock family, a Sock Giraffe! She was kind of tough, because I only had one pair of ankle length socks to work with. I definitely used every last bit of the fabric.
