Our Mission

We are three sisters who want to share how we "live within our means" but live well! We will show you how (with a little elbow grease) you can make any found object into a treasure, cook an inexpensive meal, or bring you inspiration to enrich your life. We grew up in a large family (8 kids) with a mother who was very crafty and creative! Though our lives (aka husbands) have taken us to live in separate states, we still enjoy sharing what we are up to with each other. Now we want to share with you! We hope you enjoy our blog and we also hope it will bring you inspiration and happiness!

DIY Decopauge (aka Mod Podge)

I love Elmer's Glue! It is so useful and when there are back-to-school sales, I stock up. Here is a wonderful FAQ from the Elmer's Glue website:

http://www.elmers.com/about/faqs/how-to
"How do I make decoupage medium?
Making an excellent and inexpensive decoupage medium is easy with Elmer’s Glue-All and water. To make decoupage medium, use craft stick to mix together three parts Elmer's® Glue-All® with 1 part water in a paper cup. Stir well. Use sponge brush to spread mixture over surface. Papers may stretch or bubble up initially, so smooth out air from bubbles with finger and then go over area again with foam brush. Minor wrinkling will shrink and flatten as it dries. Let thoroughly dry over night and then spray surface with matte sealer.
TIPS:
  • You can adjust the measurement of glue to water if necessary
  • When cutting out intricate designs or special shapes, an X-ACTO knife works great!
  • Magazines, greeting cards and pictures make great cutouts for a decoupage project"
